Since the ‘Pandemic phase’ of education came to a halt, we have found that a large number of our older pupils returned to school in a ‘fragile’ state. There remain times when the smallest of changes causes dysregulation. Children cry but can’t seem to explain why, this inability to identify what is bothering them worried all staff. We started looking at how we could support our pupils to find an inner calmness and gift them with coping strategies where words failed them.

We started ‘mindfulness’ sessions at Simon Marks. We are now in our second year of running these sessions and can see the positive impact this has had on the emotional wellbeing of our pupils.
