The pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is promoted well through the school’s deeply held values. Pupils learn about diversity through inter-faith links, staff talking in assembly about their different faiths and celebrating the cultural backgrounds of pupils.
Ofsted 2015
Simon Marks is unique as the last remaining mixed Jewish school in inner London. To support our inclusive Jewish ethos and to pay for those elements that also enhance the secular curriculum such as art and music, we request that parents make a voluntary contribution to create the best possible learning experience for our children.
Without the voluntary contributions Simon Marks would not be able to provide the distinctive, highly successful Jewish educational experience which parents and carers value. Such experiences include the school choir, Chanukah performances, mock-Sederim and Chagigat Siddur ceremonies as well as the delivery of the Hebrew and Jewish Studies curricula, a contribution to all maintenance and building upgrades and the development of our cross curriculum ‘creative links’ lessons.
As soon as your child is admitted to our school, you will receive a voluntary contributions standing order mandate. We stress that this contribution is voluntary. We know that not all families can afford to pay the full amount requested; teaching staff are unaware of who pays voluntary contributions and all children are treated equally irrespective of whether or how much their parents contribute. Please find below this year’s request letter, standing order form and Gift Aid form:
